Changing the filter takes just seconds. Press down on the top of the filter cage to release it, lift out the old pad, drop in the new filter, then press the cage back down until it clicks securely into place.
Replacement schedule:
- One cat: every 3–4 weeks
- Multiple cats: every 2–3 weeks, since more hair and debris build up faster with more than one cat drinking
Signs it's time for a change (even ahead of schedule): slower water flow, odd smells, or cloudy water are all cues the filter's worn out early.
Between filter changes:
- Weekly: take the fountain apart and rinse all parts with warm, soapy water
- Monthly: clean the pump itself so trapped hair doesn't slow it down
Each filter combines activated carbon and cotton to pull out odors, debris, and impurities — keeping the water fresher for longer than a filter-free setup.
